Christian Grief Counseling
Grief is one of the most deeply human experiences we can go through. While grief is often associated with the death of a loved one, loss can take many forms. People may grieve the end of a relationship, a major life transition, emotional disconnection, unmet expectations, or the loss of identity and stability. Grief is tied to loss whether that loss is clear and visible or more ambiguous and difficult to explain to others.
Grief can affect every part of life emotionally, mentally, physically, and relationally. No matter how grief is showing up for you, you do not have to navigate it alone. Working with a grief counselor can provide support, guidance, and space to process loss in a healthy and meaningful way.
For some clients, faith and Christian grief counseling can become an important part of the healing process. Christian grief counselors can provide emotional support while also allowing space for prayer, faith, Scripture, and spiritual reflection when desired. If prayer is included during sessions, permission is always asked first so the process remains supportive, respectful, and collaborative.

What Grief Can Look Like
Grief does not look the same for everyone. Some people experience deep sadness, while others feel emotionally numb or disconnected. At times, those who are grieving even find themselves wrestling with why they feel as okay as they do in certain moments. Grief can bring confusion, frustration, guilt, anger, exhaustion, or a sense of emptiness that feels difficult to explain.
Grief can also impact identity and relationships. A significant loss may leave you questioning who you are, where you belong, what connecting with others who don’t understand your experiences can look like, or how to move forward. Even when life appears to continue normally on the outside, grief may still be deeply affecting your internal world.
In many cases, grief resurfaces months or even years after a loss. Certain memories, milestones, transitions, or unexpected moments can bring emotions back to the surface. This is a NORMAL part of the grieving process, and it can be a powerful resource to have a safe space where you can bring your pain without judgment.
How Therapy Can Help With Grief
Many people searching for a grief counselor near them are looking for a safe and compassionate place to process loss, sadness, and emotional pain. Counseling can provide support during difficult seasons while helping you move toward healing at your own pace.
Therapy provides a compassionate space to process grief without pressure, judgment, or unrealistic expectations about “moving on.”
Therapy can also help when emotions feel overwhelming or difficult to manage. Whether you are experiencing sadness, anger, anxiety, numbness, guilt, or emotional exhaustion, support can help you process those experiences in a healthy and meaningful way.
As part of the healing process, counseling may include developing coping tools, creating healthier emotional patterns, and helping you move toward stability and hope while still honoring the significance of the loss you have experienced.

Support Through the Healing Process
Grief does not follow a predictable timeline. Healing is often non-linear, and it is normal for emotions to shift over time. Some days may feel manageable, while others feel unexpectedly heavy. That does not mean you are failing or doing grief “wrong.”
Therapy can provide support, compassion, and guidance through the emotional challenges grief can bring.
If you are struggling with grief, loss, or emotional pain, reaching out for support can be an important step toward healing and hope. Christian grief counseling can help clients navigate loss while holding space for both emotional healing and spiritual support.
Do you work with people who aren’t Christians?
Absolutely. While my faith shapes who I am as a therapist, I work with both Christians and non-Christians seeking support, healing, and growth. My clinical education, professional training, and counseling experience provide the foundation for the work I do with all clients, while allowing space for faith to be incorporated when desired..
